Police have launched a search operation in upstate New York this evening after a woman went over Niagara Falls.
Investigators say that at around 6pm the woman 'intentionally entered' the river close to Prospect Point on the American side of the waterfalls.
Authorities have not yet released any more information about her, or whether they are treating the search as a rescue or a recovery operation.

According to Wivb, an onlooker captured footage of the woman plunging over the falls, which has now been handed to police to help with their investigation.
Dozens of people are killed going over Niagara Falls each year. The vast majority of the deaths are suicides, though they are often not publicized.
Around six million cubic feet of water plunges off the falls every minute at around 70mph.
It is exceptionally rare for people to be unintentionally swept over the falls, though it does occasionally happen, including to one Japanese tourist back in 2011 while she was taking a picture.
In 1960, seven-year-old Roger Woodward fell over the falls wearing a life preserver and survived, while Kirk Jones, 40, managed to survive a fall in 2003 without a flotation device.
