Steven Gerrard has denied sensational claims attributed to former team-mate El Hadji Diouf that he was racist and did not like black people.
Diouf, who was subject to criticism from Gerrard in his new autobiography My Story, reportedly responded with a series of allegations against the former England captain.
Gerrard said Diouf had little interest in football and cited a disgusting incident in which he spat in a fan's face during a UEFA Cup match in the book, which has been serialised by Sportsmail.
According to reports of an interview on Senegalese radio station Radio Future Media, Diouf said: ‘We all saw how he made life difficult for Mario Balotelli at Liverpool. I warned him. Liverpool isn’t a team that accepts black people unless they are English.

Lawyers acting for Gerrard said their client denied the allegations said to have been made by Diouf.
